Aalto: the CLERT-I4.0 project of the Unite! go ahead

Between 21 and 23 June 2025, a meeting of the CLERT-I4.0 (Collaborative Learning Environments for Research-based Teaching on Industry 4.0) project was held at Aalto University, within the framework of the Unite!tag.

What is CLERT-I4.0?

CLERT-I4.0 is a joint initiative of several European universities. Specifically, from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, TU Darmstadt, the Instituto Superior Técnico de Lisboa and the University of Aalto. The project aims to develop collaborative learning environments based on research for the teaching of Industry 4.0.

Although each university institution has a strong technical specialization, this knowledge is often limited to isolated academic programs. CLERT-I4.0 aims to overcome this challenge onwatertight compartments. The aim is to promote collaborative research-based learning environments that build on the collective strengths of Unite!

Firstly, this involves the opening of research laboratories for collaborative learning. Secondly, the creation of exchange modules that allow students to study at another university in the Unite! network. Thirdly, the use of online tools to facilitate virtual mobility when physical mobility is not possible.

What has been done at Aalto?

During the aforementioned days, the University of Aalto has hosted a meeting of the CLERT-I4.0 project. The meeting has been focused on the presentation and demonstration of flexible attending exoskeletons. The exoskeletons have been designed to help workers in the industry and to reduce physical exertion.

Likewise, there is also the objection of improving security. This technology is part of the innovations developed by the project. As already mentioned, CLERT-I4.0 seeks to integrate research and teaching in the field of Industry 4.0.

From the BEST Foundation we thank the ETSEIB for its involvement  in the hand of the coordinator of the Degree in Industrial Technologies and Economic Analysis. Professor Joaquim Minguella attended the meeting at Aalto on behalf of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, which leads the project.
